Last-Chance Tourism: Why We Need to Travel Responsibly!
If you love visiting old cities, learning about different cultures, or enjoying nature, now might be the best time to travel — because many beautiful places around the world are slowly disappearing. Glaciers are melting, beaches are shrinking, forests are thinning, and even the weather is changing. Many things that made travel special are becoming harder to see.
A lot of this damage is caused by human actions. In the name of growth, comfort, and fun, we have harmed nature more than we realise. People who once climbed mountains to see huge glaciers now see only a small bit of ice. Colourful landscapes and peaceful natural spots are slowly fading away.
During my travels, I’ve noticed that tourism itself can sometimes cause harm. When visitors aren’t careful, they can damage local culture, disturb the environment, and put pressure on communities. We go to enjoy these places, but sometimes our actions hurt the very things we came to see.
The truth is: we may not live long enough to see the worst effects of climate change, but future generations will. Our children and grandchildren will face the results of what we choose to do today.
So we must ask ourselves:
Do we want to be the generation that protected the Earth, or the one that let it disappear?
Travel is a wonderful experience. Let’s make sure we do it in a way that keeps our world safe, clean, and beautiful — for us and for everyone who comes after us.
